Week 24 Predictions

This is the week of absolutes.

Most weeks, the staff at Total MLS are split down the middle on certain matches when two teams with comparable strengths and weaknesses face each other. There are also the occasional matches in which a clear victor presents itself. This weekend, just about every single match seems laughably predictable.

From beginning to end, the winner of each match seems almost predestined. Portland hosts the New York Red Bulls, who have only won a single road game in the West (against Minnesota). Real Salt Lake travels to Montreal with 8 road losses already and a -13 goal differential. If those look like terrible numbers, Columbus Crew SC has it worse on the road; their only caveat is that Orlando City SC seems to have found themselves in a bit of a rut at the moment.

Chicago and Toronto seem to be the only match that could end up either way. However, the Fire are currently unbeaten at home, and have only allowed a single goal in their last four matches at Toyota Park.

The rest of the matches can be seen below, but one can already notice the heavy emphasis on home field advantage this week. Beyond a spattering of draws, only three guesses went in favor of the visitors all weekend.

Here are the rest of the picks:
