Why are we like this?
We do well, then we do miserably. We do well, then we do miserably. The crazy part is that we do it collectively. In Week 9, none of us guessed over 50%. Our average was slightly above 45%, but only thanks to Toronto, Orlando, and Kansas City. Had those teams not won, we would be looking at a lot more below-average scores from last week.
Week 10 will be different though, right? Taking a look at our picks, it feels as if some of us learned to pull away from the herd. Ian and Anne Marie, for example, are the only ones of us who believe Montreal can pull out a win in D.C., while I have put my faith in Real Salt Lake and San Jose Earthquakes alone to win their respective matches.
In a bizarre twist of tradition, three of us are favoring Chicago Fire to defeat LA Galaxy in California. The visitors have only won once on the road since July 13th, 2014, yet Onalfo’s uninspiring attack has diminished our hope in an easy guess.
Meanwhile, in Seattle, a major chunk of us have agreed to support the Sounders against a Toronto FC side that will be suiting up for their third game in eight days. And while we have nearly unanimously picked Sporting Kansas City for the win on Wednesday, few of us think they will be able to repeat over the weekend.
Here are the rest of the picks:
