MLS Teams Find Out Opening Round USOC Opponents

As the second round of the 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup came to a close yesterday, U.S. Soccer today conducted the fourth round draw for the 103-year-old tournament. MLS teams enter the tournament each year in the fourth round, which is set for June 14. As usual, matchups are generally determined by geographic proximity. (Yes, that means another Portland v. Seattle matchup.)

While some MLS teams will have to wait until the end of the third round to see which lower division side they will face, most teams now know if they will stay home or go on the road for their fourth round matchup (FC Dallas is the only exception).

Here’s what we know so far about fourth round matchups:

All games are likely to kick-off at 7:00 or 7:30pm local time on June 14. (U.S. Soccer says some games may be moved up to June 13.)

The third round of the U.S. Open Cup will begin on May 31.
