Staff Picks - Week 7

The beginning of the season is often too hard to nail down in terms of which team is going to perform the way you think they will. Just ask Jesse Marsch.

The entire writing staff at TMLS performed admirably last week, correctly picking a combined 45% of the matches played in Week 6. Our Top Gun, Cory, has maintained a highly respectable 54% accuracy rating over the course of the entire season; he knows how to do his research, [especially when it comes to draft picks]. Near the bottom of the list is Anne Marie, probably muttering “Kill Me Again” each week when I ask for her predictions, but don’t let her team picking quality fool you; she’s The Real McCoy with individual players and proudly runs one of the best MLS fantasy teams around. Make sure to check out her fantasy report, updated weekly just for you.

This week, it is going to take a Real Genius to figure out between all the rivalry matches, who Willow come out on top. The overlooked portion of the Cascadia Cup between Seattle and Vancouver saw nearly our entire team in favor of the Sounders. The Doors seem to be shut on D.C. United in our perspective as well on their visit to face the goal-leaking New York Red Bulls. The rivalry between TFC and Columbus may have fizzled lately, but it is still not a True Romance, neither in real life or in our picks. And finally, the Rocky Mountain Cup has split us three ways, with Real Salt Lake with the short end of the stick (though we do fear a little bit the Ghost and the Darkness will rise from their den this weekend).

Beyond the rivalries, we have Houston running all over Minnesota, but Anne Marie is feeling confident with picking the Loons. Miguel Ibarra needs to step up soon; he won’t be Batman Forever if he doesn’t display his heroics. New York City FC has been looking for their offense to come alive since their home thumping of D.C. United a few weeks back. Will they be able to come alive in Chester, erecting the Tombstone of Philadelphia’s early season?

Here are the remainder of our picks; we will never keep our opinions a Top Secret.
