Zeiko Lewis: Our New Favorite Player

Meet Zeiko Lewis, a 21-year-old, Bermudan forward from Boston College. He stands just 5’7”, but his elite speed led to the nickname, “the Bermuda Blur.”

After scoring 18 goals in 73 games for BC, Lewis was selected 17th overall in the MLS SuperDraft by the New York Red Bulls. Going by most mock drafts, this is right around where Lewis was expected to go, but don’t tell him that. He stepped to the podium after being drafted and…

Mic. Drop.

Lewis doubled down later, lest you think he simply got caught up in the moment.

Zeiko Lewis, GOAT.

In all seriousness, MLS needs more of this kind of personality. Like them or hate them, personalities make the league more fun and gives the 24-hour news cycle something to talk about.

As our own Cory Jensen told you earlier in the week, Lewis faces steep odds to ever be a significant contributor in MLS. But hey, he’s already warned us what happens when you count him out. Here’s hoping the “Bermuda Blur” can play well enough in the preseason to earn a roster spot with RBNY.
