What a week it's been for the LA Galaxy.
After blowing a 2 goal lead on the road at RSL, the Galaxy made their way back to StubHub Center where they laid a beating down on a surging Orlando City with a very unlikely late season addition making his first appearance in almost 2 years. He doesn't need much of an introduction.
You'd think that missing Gyasi Zardes and Robbie Keane for half the week would pull LA down, but think again. Their most expensive DP was more than able carry the Galaxy to 2nd overall.
Total MLS’ Offensive Player of the Week is Giovani Dos Santos.
Gio’s production this week was off the charts, posting an incredible 4 goals and 3 assists in just 2 matches. He got on the board Wednesday helping the Galaxy establish a 3-1 lead at Rio Tinto, assisting Emmanuel Boateng before adding 2 goals of his own.
Although his teammates let him down, Gio picked right back up where he left off, this time on his home field.
Dos Santos added another 2 goals and 2 assists giving LA a big 3 points to put them within striking distance of the Supports Shield and earning Player of the Week honours.
The Colorado Rapids’ fairytale season continued on Saturday by handing FC Dallas a 1-0 loss, and further closing the gap at the top of the West and for the Supporters Shield. A goal from Dominque Badji was enough, but it was our Defensive Player of the Week who ensured it would be.
Tim Howard's triumphant return to MLS has gone exceedingly well and Saturday evening's performance only proved it.
Howard's Audi Player Index was off the charts and his 7 saves on the night sealed his 5th clean sheet and gave the Rapids all three points.
