Seattle Sounders, Sigi Schmid Part Ways

It was announced on Tuesday afternoon that following a string of unacceptable results, that Sigi Schmid and the Seattle Sounders mutually agreed to part ways. Sigi Schmid has been the manager for the Seattle Sounders since they joined Major League Soccer seven years ago. Long time assistant coach Brian Schmetzer will take over on an interim basis. Schmid led the Sounders to 4 US Open Cup championships and a Supporters Shield during his tenure. The Sounders also managed to make playoff appearances in each of the seven years he was in charge. 

The Seattle Sounders currently lie in 9th place in the Western Conference with just 20 points in 20 matches played. Their -7 G/D is amongst the very worst in the league. 

Seattle take on the Los Angeles Galaxy on Sunday.
