DC United have reportedly made a pair of moves to bring some youth to their front line. According to Steven Goff of the Washington Post DC have sent forward Fabian Espindola to the Vancouver Whitecaps for allocation money. Along with that move, United are then reportedly trading allocation money and an international roster spot to New York City FC in exchange for forward Patrick Mullins.
Espindola joined United via the re-entry draft in 2013 and scored 20 goals for the Black and Red in 59 appearances. The 31 year old is in the final year of his contract.
Mullins came to New York City via the 2014 expansion draft. He was originally drafted by the New England Revolution with the 11th overall pick in 2014. Mullins has had trouble getting time with the Bronx club, managing just 7 appearances and 2 starts in 2016. In 2015, the New Orleans native scored 6 goals, after scoring 4 for the Revolution in his 2014 rookie campaign.DC
