This morning the Vancouver Whitecaps announced the signing of Canadian International David Edgar to an 18 month contract with an additional option. The 29 year old center back hails from Kitchener, Ontario. He signed with Newcastle United's academy when he was 14 and then went on to captain their reserve side and make 19 appearances for the first team. Edgar was transferred to Burnley in 2009 where he went on to appear 99 times and score four goals from the back. The Ontario native has made 37 appearances with the Canadian National Team, where he has scored three times. His latest stint was on loan with Sheffield United where he appeared 36 times scoring twice.
David Edger joins a Whitecaps team that currently sits in sixth place in the Western Conference. The 33 goals they've allowed so far this season is the second highest total in Major League Soccer.
