MLS Transfer Happenings

As we enter into the summer, the silly season of the summer transfer window is upon us. The window doesn’t officially open for MLS teams for another couple of weeks, but that doesn’t stop teams and players from window shopping and signing out of contract players. The struggling Columbus Crew SC made a trade for the rights of Dilly Duka from the Montreal Impact. Columbus gave up General and Targeted allocation money, and a 2017 SuperDraft second-round pick. Shortly after trading for his rights, Columbus signed Dilly Duka to a contract. Details undisclosed.

Now, something a bit more interesting took place earlier this morning surrounding the ongoing speculation surrounding Fanendo Adi’s future with the Portland Timbers. For a few weeks now, Adi had been linked with teams like Crystal Palace, teams in France, and Tigres in Mexico, but nothing of substance had come about. Until this morning. Nigeria reported that Adi’s reps were in heated discussion with the Portland Timbers about allowing Tigres to sign the Nigerian striker. Reports like this are hardly uncommon, but Adi retweeted the link himself, and tweeted this tweet afterwards:

Now, nothing is official as of the penning of this article, but having a player openly tweeting about the speculation of his future in this light is certainly interesting. will keep track of this rumor, and any other transfer happenings that are bound to take place in the coming weeks.
