Today Portland officially announced the acquisition of Leicester City Midfielder Jack Barmby pending the receipt of his international transfer certificate.
The 21 year old Barmby joins the defending champions from current premier league leaders Leicester City after failing to make an appearance and spending the majority of his time in England on loan to lower league clubs. He made six appearances for Notts County this season.
Barmby is the son of former England International Nick Barmby and will likely look to compete for minutes in the hole out wide made by the departure of Rodney Wallace.
The Portland Timbers have reported that Barmby will be joining on loan. But Jack Barmby has claimed on Twitter that he hasn’t signed a loan deal but rather seems to be hinting that the move is permanent:
It’s unclear at this time where the misunderstanding is, but it seems unlikely to prevent the transaction from processing as both parties seem motivated.
