With just 3 games on the schedule for Week 4 due to byes and international qualifiers and friendlies, it was a rather quiet weekend in MLS action. But although the sample size was small, the stars shone bright, and in particular, our Total MLS Player of the Week for Week 4, FC Dallas midfielder Michael Barrios.
FC Dallas travelled to the US capital and picked up all three points fairly easily against a struggling DC United side. Michael Barrios buried the first of his goals on the day by capitalizing on some atrocious defending by Taylor Kemp and Kofi Opare. Barrios calmly placed a ball into the far side giving FC Dallas a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute. Just 14 minutes later, from nearly the same spot as earlier, the young Colombian gave Dallas a 2-0 lead and they never really looked back. Maxi Urruti added another in the second half to seal a 3-0 victory.
As we like to do, our honourable mention for week 4 goes out to FC Dallas goalkeeper Chris Seitz. Seitz not only made multiple highlight reel saves throughout the match, including one that denied Lamar Neagle from close distance, but he capped off his fantastic performance by stopping Fabian Espindola’s penalty to keep his clean sheet on the day.
