Columbus Crew SC have traded defender Michael Parkhurst to Atlanta United for General Allocation Money.
Parkhurst spent 3 seasons in Columbus, making 100 appearances for Crew SC and helped lead them to an appearance in MLS Cup 2015.
The Columbus captain penned a goodbye note this morning on Twitter.
After a bevy of attacking signings, expansion side Atlanta United have added a key defensive piece for their inaugural season. Parkhurst has 25 caps for the United States National team and also represented his country at the 2008 Olympic Games. The soon to be 33 year old brings a veteran presence to the young team and is a likely candidate to wear the captain's arm band for Atlanta.
